Tips: Linear rod stepper motor for machine tool equipment
The advantages over applying the linear rod stepper motor into machine tool equipment are as below:
- With linear drive device, it is easy to reach the velocity lower than 1μm/s or higher than 5m/s. linear drive system can ensure the constant velocity characteristics. The velocity misalignment is superior to ±0.01%. During application of velocity with higher requirements, smaller linear rod motor can provide acceleration larger than 10g more conveniently while the acceleration generated by the traditional motor is generally within 1g.
- Linear rod stepper motor features simple structure and it is comprised of few components. Therefore, the required lubricating is little (linear rail should be lubricated at regular interval). It means that it has long service life and runs cleanly. By contrast, the traditional drive system is comprised of more than 20 parts and components, including motor, coupler, ball screw, U-shaped block, bearing, bolster and lubricating system.
- Other advantages of linear rod stepper motor includes low acting force and small velocity ripple so that the stable motion profile is guaranteed, which of course relies on structure, magnetic board and drive software. To utilize the intrinsic advantages of linear rod stepper motor over dynamic braking, the drive amplifier should effectively monitor EMF and even if the power may be cut off. Many linear rod stepper motors can be installed in the way of “back-to-back” to ensure the acting force is enhanced. Besides, extra magnetic board can be set to ensure the substantial infinite stroke (limited to the feedback device and length of cable) without accuracy loss.
