Using a 5/3 valve it's possible to stop a pneumatic cylinder, in another position than the 2 ends. This is never as precise as a CNC control or electronic cylinder. But it can be very useful for manual operations that don't require great precision. There are 3 variants. What we offer here is the closed-center version. There are also open-center and pressure-center versions. In the closed-center version, the ports to the double-acting cylinder are closed when the coils are not being actuated. Which maintains the pressure in the pneumatic cylinder. In principle, the piston will remain where you stopped it. This can of course vary under the influence of the mechanical load, but also if you have a leak somewhere in a pipe.
