ESC (Electronic Speed Controller) Selection for E-Board BLDC Motor
- The speed of BLDC motor does not exceed the speed of ESC, it can be matched and used.
- Brushless DC motor speed calculation formula: battery voltage * motor KV value.
Brushless DC motor stator speed calculation formula: motor KV value * battery voltage * motor pole pairs. - The limit speed of V4 series ESC is 60000 ERPM.
The limit speed of V6 series ESC is 15000 OERPM. - If the maximum speed of BLDC motor exceeds the speed of electric speed controller, the ESC can also be matched by reducing the working voltage of motor. But we do not recommend this, because it does not really play the role of brushless DC motor.

Tips: The control principle of brushless motor for electric skateboard.
Electric skateboard brushless motor is different from the common DC motor, its coil is not moving, and it is surrounded by a circle of magnetic tiles. When working, current directions of the three wires will switch continuously. This switching is realized electronically, so there is no need for the brushes of traditional motors.
Usually, an ESC (electronic speed controller) used with the electric skateboard BLDC motor. Its function is to continuously switch the current state in these 3 wires, thereby controlling the motor speed.
For the traditional DC motor, the voltage can be adjusted, and the speed will increase with the increase of the voltage. The brushless motor is speed-regulated by a programmable controller, generally using the PWM method.
The full name of PWM is Pulse-width modulation. Simply put, for traditional control signals, assuming that the control voltage is 1 at the highest speed, then 0.5 can be output to represent the general speed. But for the single-chip microcomputer, it is convenient to output 0 and 1, but it is more troublesome to output 0.5. In this case, you can quickly switch between 0 and 1, and the effect achieved is very similar to 0.5.
