Tips: Descriptions of rated current and drive voltage of stepper motor

Rated current of stepper motor indicates current peak. The actual working current is not always driven by the rated current. In case that the the capability of the motor to drive the load exceeds the actual load level, the working current can be appropriately reduced to reduce the power dissipation and heating value. However, under the circumstance that the large load should be driven with small-size motor, when ensuring the heating quantity of the motor is within the tolerable range, the rated current can be appropriately reduced. Generally, the motor works or heat dissipation condition is very good. For example, under the situation that the fan is working or the motor swings back and forth, the actual working current of the motor is also smaller than the set one.
The phase voltage indicated on the specification of motor. The drive voltage indicated on the specification is also only the recommended value, so it should not be certainly used this way. In case that the working velocity is very low, the lower drive voltage also can be used. Reversely, to have the working torque of the motor as large as possible when the motor rotates at high velocity, the drive voltage can be increased. Of course, the premise is constant current drive. In case that the recommended voltage is higher a lot than the drive voltage, the set working current can be reduced appropriately to control the heating quantity of the stepper motor.
