Tips: What is an AC synchronous motor?
When the AC synchronous motor works, the single phase or three phase symmetrical current is passed into winding of the stator and the AC current is passed into the excitation winding of the rotor. And then a rotating magnetic field will be generated in the air gap. A static magnetic field with constant polarity will be generated when an AC current is passed into the rotor excitation winding. If the pole logarithm of the rotor magnetic field is equal to the pole logarithm of the stator magnetic field, the rotor magnetic field will rotate synchronously with the stator rotating magnetic field due to the magnetic pull of the stator magnetic field, that is, the rotor rotates at the speed and direction equal to the rotating magnetic field, which is the basic working principle of the synchronous motor.
There are three main operating modes of synchronous motor, that is, as generator, motor and compensation machine operation. Operation as generator is the main operation mode of synchronous motor. Running as a motor is another important operation mode of synchronous motor. The power factor of the synchronous motor can be adjusted. When the speed regulation is not required, the application of large synchronous motors can improve the operating efficiency. Small - sized synchronous motors have been widely used in variable frequency speed regulation systems. The synchronous motor can also be connected to the grid as a synchronous compensator. That is, the motor without any mechanical load, by adjusting the rotor excitation electricity flow to the grid to issue the required inductive or capacitive reactive power, in order to achieve the purpose of improving the power factor of the grid or adjusting the grid voltage.
